Creating a driver's profile

Modified on Wed, 30 Aug, 2023 at 2:16 PM

Adding a new driver’s profile is just as easy. Simply open the Drivers section and click on an Add driver button at the top left.

This will open a fill-out form for providing information.

When assigning a driver’s type, you will be asked to select one of the four:

  • Company Driver – employed by specific companies that maintain their fleet of trucks. Compensated for mileage. Other expenses (tolls, fuel, insurance, maintenance) are covered by the company.

  • Contract Driver - operates a power unit owned or leased by an Independent Contractor.

  • Owner Operator – owns the truck that he or she operates as an independent business. Pays company for dispatching services 20% or 30% of total load amount. Rest expenses are covered by the owner-operator driver.

  • Leased Owner – Op – provides service to a trucking company by having a lease agreement.

When creating a driver profile, there is a also field labeled "Pay to". This field is linked to the Vendors page. The person or entity that should be selected as the "Pay to" will vary depending on whether the driver is a company driver or an owner-operator.

For company drivers, the "Pay to" should be the name of the driver.

For owner-operators, the "Pay to" should be the individual or business entity that owns the truck and is responsible for operating it. The payment for the driver's services will be made to the owner-operator, and it is the owner-operator's responsibility to pay for any expenses associated with operating the truck.

It is important to select the correct "Pay to" in the driver's profile to ensure that payments are made to the appropriate person or entity.

While providing information on a new driver, make sure to fill out all the mandatory fields that are marked with a * symbol, since the system will not allow you to continue if those fields are left empty.

After you’re done, remember to click the Add driver button before moving forward.

If you change your mind and want to discard the addition of a new driver, click on the Cancel  button.

When a new driver is created, you can edit his profile to provide more information. See article for driver's profile.
