Team Drivers

Modified on Wed, 25 Oct, 2023 at 1:39 PM

A team driver is a person who drives trucks and splits the driving time with another driver. Team drivers are a pair of CDL-certified drivers that, together, handle the transportation of a single shipment. One driver will be driving while the other will either be in the passenger seat (up to two of the ten required off-duty hours) or the sleeper berth. This allows the truck to keep moving while following hours-of-service regulations.

In OpenRoad TMS, you can:

To use this functionality, please follow these steps:

1. In the driver profiles, click on the "Team Driver" button and assign two drivers to each other.

Please note that the driver must be selected and cannot be left at 'None'.

2. In the Planner, the team drivers will be displayed as a team. You can change the selection of the currently shown driver by clicking on the button marked in the screenshot below.

Please note that we are currently working on multiple implementations regarding team drivers and will update all relevant sections within the OpenRoad TMS where Team Drivers have an impact.
